Workshops & Courses in Book Arts & Bookbindingworkshops

“Fancy learning book binding? This is where I learnt and I would highly recommend it. Meg’s workshops are unbelievably inspirational!  Be warned though once you start you probably won’t be able to stop!”    Lottie Small, textile artist.

Book Arts Short Course

Suitable for various skill levels from beginner to advanced.
Open workshop for experienced participants offering a fully equipped studio to advance your own binding projects over 7 weeks.  Alternatively, there is a tutor-led Project Group within the open workshop which you can join if you wish.
At the beginning of the first day, we look at various types of bindings, skills, techniques and outcomes of interest to participants to select the projects to complete.  We then work through the stages of each project with demonstrations, examples, methods and handouts.  Projects explore ways of creating books which combine traditional and contemporary book binding methods and techniques from different cultures throughout time.  This course teaches safe, reliable and adaptable methods of measuring, cutting, aligning, folding, gluing and pressing in order to produce original hand-bound books of sound construction and lasting beauty.
