Creating Artist Books and Ltd Editions

Wednesdays, 1:30pm – 4:30pm, 6 weeks starting 19 April 2017
This course explores techniques, structures and materials to create your own Artist Books, unique volume or short run Artist Edition. Possibilities include reclaimed and altered books, renewals, reprints and sculptures in book form.  Learn to adapt traditional and innovative bookbinding techniques, structures and projects of intermediate complexity. Develop your own personal project with tutored guidance. Projects draw upon western and eastern historical bindings as well as intermediate book concepts such as text and image, layering, fold-outs, non-adhesive bindings and the book as sculptural object. Book Arts Short Courses at Richmond Art School

Develop creative content while exploring increasingly inventive and imaginative book structures. Explore ways of creating books which combine traditional and contemporary book binding methods and techniques from different cultures throughout time. Learn western and eastern binding methods and ideas, techniques and materials to create original artworks in book form. Single Session Workshops just for you

Have a special book project but don’t know where or how to get started? Sometimes it’s hard to know just what it is you need to learn in order to develop your idea further.   Single session workshops will get you underway. Individual three hour sessions focused around your own project, interests and skills.

These Core Skills and Specialist Sessions will break down your idea into manageable stages, establish specific core skills and work through the challenges of getting your vision from concept to conclusion.

All project materials included, studio tools are provided during the session.  Purchase just what you need for your project.  Special ordering is available, details and costs can be discussed during your own session.  Small groups accommodated, get in touch with the details of your group project.

Tutor:  Meg Green, MFA, BFA Book Arts & PrintmakingMeg Green Portfolio

Meg holds Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees in Printmaking and Book Arts.  She is the founder of Some Odd Pages in London, UK and Atelier Soleil, Centre for Book Arts in her native Montreal.  Her original works have exhibited and sold in Montreal, New York and London since 1996.

Meg was 2014 Artist-In-Residence with the Guildhall Library in the City of London.  She is a member of The UK Society of Bookbinders and Designer Bookbinders, UK.
